How we work
Under direction from our Trustees, we research and identify potential charities and organisations who are working across our chosen themes, with whom we might develop meaningful partnerships. Our approach involves reaching out to these charities directly to understand more about their work and explore potential funding opportunities. If we feel the organisation is a good fit, we invite them to submit an application for funding that is formally considered at our Board meetings. We recognise the time, effort and costs that charities invest in fundraising and do not want to add to this burden. We will endeavour to keep our application process clear, simple and proportional to the value of grants we will award.
After a grant is awarded, we typically expect an annual report and will carry out an interim visit to keep in touch and ensure funds are being used appropriately.
The Caerlow Trust does not accept unsolicited requests or applications for funding.
We may consider open applications in future, as the Trust grows.
Our impact
The Trust’s impact will be seen through the funding decisions we make to support the delivery of the work carried out by other organisations. At the moment, we do not intend to deliver any direct services or campaign ourselves.
We will ensure we work with organisations we fund to understand the outputs and outcomes they accomplish as well as the individual changes they make to people they serve through case studies. We willingly accept that wherever we grant unrestricted funding, we will be contributing towards a wider impact and look forward to being an enabling part of the incredible work the charity sector delivers to those in need.
